Evolution, algorithms and mathematics

I was today at the Grande gallerie de l'évolution with my son.

It reminds me the first research I conducted (now long ago, around 1994) about the anaysis of natural genetic algorithms.
I started form the work of Raphel Cerf, and the results (about simulated annealing) obtained by Robert Azencott.
I never published my results (may be I should) but only presented them twice at Ecole Normale Supérieure Seminars.

It was the first time I realised that studying the real world (DNA evolution, explained to me by Philippe Tarroux) could help me to solve mathematical problems, and that computer simulations could give me hints about how to solve theoretical problems.
